I know, I know, that title is ridiculously long, but come on, as far as lines go, that’s about as clever as I can get. I’m a big, big fan of M.I.A, by which I of course mean I own Kala and haven’t listened to anything else by her, so I thought I’d post this line of clothes even if I don’t think its all that great. Here’s the blurbery: Featuring bomber jackets, leggings and bodysuits, the debut collection is clearly designed by none other than M.I.A featuring her signature bold colors and graphic prints. This collection is limited edition and can be seen in her new video “Real Pirates of the Caribbean.” The video features a toe-headed Okley Leslie, who models the pieces from the collection that can be found on the singer’s website and purchased from Karmaloop. I’m pretty sure I’d look like a bit of a tool if I wore this since I don’t think anyone would believe I like crunk, but it is still a damn fine illustration, and a damn fine tee, so much so that it was Emptees tee of the day yesterday. To be completely honest, as far as interviews go this one doesn’t really impress me, but I am a fan of Diplo’s work (and its good to hear that he has a cheesesteak recommendation in Philly that isn’t Pat’s or Geno’s) and I think its really cool that Threadless make video’s where they don’t mention their own clothing at all. Wondering why there are so many celebrity posts on HYA today? Look here for an explanation. I don’t know what it is about Megan Fox (sidebar: how ridiculously good-looking is she?), but I’m inclined to believe that she actually does like Motley Crue, whereas I don’t think that Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton are big fans of the Rolling Stones. It’s porbably because of her hair. All girls with black hair like Motely Crue, right?

Dadawan & Mad Turnip become NUKOD, release cool tees

I forgot to mention this when it happened, but a little while back Dadawan (who I’ve mentioned quite a lot), and Mad Turnip (who I haven’t, but they share a retail shop in Paris) have joined forces and rebranded themselves as NUKOD, and are now operating out of a Big Cartel-powered webstore, which is a bit more browsing friendly then the old Dadawan store. I can’t be entirely sure, but I think that they are the ones who have released the tees above, that I think are based upon photos of musicians (Iggy Pop, PJ Harvey, Stupefilp and my band of this year and last, Justice) by a French photographer that goes by the name of Natydred. Find the tees at Nukod. Pour homme et pour femme.

Chop Shop seem to have got in the habit of releasing tees covered in collections of famous people, rock stars, robots, aliens, internet memes, and cars from television and movies. I guess that tees like that are like normal pop culture reference tees on steroids. This particular tee features “31 classic rock, punk and post-punk celebrities whose stars burnt brightest from 1972-1982. The Daily Loop from KarmaloopTV

Karmaloop have started producing a daily show in which they discuss what’s new in the world of streetwear. Yesterday’s issue covered the Marc Ecko Star War collection, some limited edition sneakers, TI’s new album, and a few small/funny stories that have been in the news recently, such as that guy that punched a shark in the face to save his dog. The ‘Daily Loop’ is professionally produced, well hosted, and pretty funny to boot, so I may well be making the Daily Loop a daily stop off on my web travels. KarmaloopTV

Rigo… es amor [Flickr Finds]

T-shirts lead to me researching a lot of odd things on the internet, take this tee for example, I had no idea who Rigo was, so after a quick hunt around I’ve found out that Rigo is “considered a musical pioneer who started fusing electric guitars, synthesizers and rock melody with traditional Mexican music.” You truly do learn something new every day, and most of the time it isn’t much use to you. The tee isn’t exactly the best I’ve ever featured on HYA, but I really like the style that the photo was taken, and hopefully that little compliment will mean that the photographer won’t mind me highlighting their photo. Johnny Drama demands Freedom or Death!

I was watching Entourage last night (we’re only a week behind here in the UK, which unusually close for us) and I spotted Viking Quest’s very own Johnny Drama wearing a tee that I just knew would be on the internet somewhere… … and I was right! The design is by Worn Free, who recreate designs that were famously worn by musical heroes from ‘back in the day’ such as such as Kurt Cobain, Debbie Harry (who I once saw stood on the street in Amsterdam - true story) and this design, which was worn by Lester Bangs, a man I first encountered when he was played by Philip Seymour Hoffman in my favourite movie of all time, Almost Famous, who was in Mission Impossible 3 with Tom Cruise, who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon. It ain’t a cheap tee, but if you want to look like Johnny Drama then I’m pretty sure you’ve got bigger things to worry about than the amount a t-shirt costs.
